PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
Now is the time to shine His light for such a time as this. As Christians, we have the hope that everyone is seeking after and one of the key ways that Jesus can be seen in these dark times is to turn outward and fix the eyes of others on Him. It is undeniable that struggle has a unique way of softening the hearts of those who do not know Christ.
What does that look like practically, you ask? This episode is full of helpful practicals that will give you a starting place in knowing how to share the hope that is within you.
1. Set Your Gaze First
One of the most important ways to encourage others is to be living fearlessly in your own life. When people note the direction where your own gaze is fixed, they too will receive encouragement and direction to do the same and rise above fear. Begin by asking God to open your eyes to the opportunities and people that are right in front of you right now.
2. Share Truth, Not Trends
Truth is what is needed at this time — not just empathy. There is nothing wrong with a caring word or a loving, hope-filled encouragement. But we must remember that people need to hear the amazing promises of God’s Word first and foremost.
Practical Ways to Share Truth
- Share stories that build faith.
- Send and share God’s promises.
- Ask how you can pray for others.
Promises to Stand On
- He will never leave us. (See Hebrews 13:5.)
- God will provide. (See Philippians 4:19.)
- He will protect us and angels will keep guard over us. (See Psalm 91.)
- When we cry out to God, He will answer. (See Psalm 34:15; 1 Peter 3:12.)
- He will give us peace and joy in His presence. (See Psalm 16:11.)
3. Give Strength, Not Sympathy
Impart strength to those who are hurting and fretful with your words with hearty, loving encouragement. Self-pity is a poor comforter, instead point others to the God of all comfort! There is a way to give courage to others that promotes fortitude, or great spiritual strength.
