Thriving in motherhood is not about being perfect. Rather it’s about being entirely dependent upon Christ. This week Leslie shares that in every challenge we face in life, there is a spiritual breakthrough awaiting us, if we will have the eyes to see it.
PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
These practical keys are principles I have personally found in my motherhood journey that have aided me in overcoming exhaustion that I found tucked in a seemingly small interaction between Jesus and His disciples in Matthew 16:5–12 and Matthew 14:3–21.
Observations on Motherhood From This Passage:
- As mothers, we can easily focus and fixate on all we are doing wrong rather than look to God to do what is most important.
- Even if we don’t do everything perfectly, we must remember that we are with the Perfect One. He will supply us with that which we need for marriage and motherhood.
- When Jesus did His work, the disciples could then effectively do their work which He set before them to do.
- The pattern for successful motherhood is that Jesus supplies the resources in order for us to fulfill the impossible task of motherhood. We are called to receive those things from Him and then act with what we have been given.
- We become exhausted when we try to take over Jesus’ role as the Miracle Worker instead of the disciple’s role as obedient participants in the work.
- It’s not about being perfect it’s about getting in step with the Perfect One
