Discouragement can easily follow on the heels of seemingly constant bad news. It’s time to show that we believe the promises of God by getting on our knees in history-shaping prayer. Drawing from the annals of Christian history to see how God has won battles in the past, this week Leslie shares powerful practicals to see God move in our present day through prayer. It is here that the battle for our country and our faith will be won.
SHOWNOTES
When our prayers seem to be delayed, it can be easy to get discouraged! But it is here that we must rise up on the strength of God and receive fresh vision for the importance of history-shaping prayer!
When circumstances are at their darkest, it is time to pray and to rise up in faith. Do you notice that you tend to be paralyzed with fear when uncertainty and foreboding loom on the horizon? Here are a few key principles that I have found helpful in forging a powerful prayer life:
– Wrestle Until the Victory Comes — Don’t give up when it seems that the answer to your prayers is suffering a delay. That is the time you need to pray even harder! Breakthrough will come.
– Rise up in Faith — The ultimate question is this: Do you trust the God of the Bible and His mighty promises? Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen … we must fight for our faith and hold on in hope in the God that promised.
– Don’t Underestimate the Power of Prayer — Rees Howells knew that the insurmountable odds they faced were first and foremost spiritual and could only be overcome as people prayed diligently. We must choose to agree with God and believe that prayer is as powerful as He said it is.
Evil often seems to be getting the upper hand and many people in our world feel more unsteady and uncertain than ever before in light of current events. While it is tempting to feel that there is nothing we can do to overcome the darkness that is sweeping over our world and the enemy wants to whisper his lies to us saying that we have no power to stem the tide of darkness, we must remember that God’s Word remains clear. God has promised that, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14).
We need more than “dinner table” prayer in these days, instead what is needed is to fight this battle on our knees with just as much fortitude and fearlessness as a soldier on the front lines of war. We are not helpless in the midst of crisis. It is a proven fact that the prayers of God’s people can move Heaven and shape history!
