Book by Leonard Ravenhill
By ANNIE WESCHE
Never have I read someone speak so boldly yet so powerfully to the church as Leonard Ravenhill. Picking up this “old book on revival” you may not anticipate how affectingly the words will fall on your soul or how timely they are for our present age! But the message of Ravenhill’s book Why Revival Tarries is just as needed today as it was when he first wrote it — and the thundering truth within its pages, just as potent. Recently re-visiting this treasured book freshly reminded me of the vital need I have for cultivating a faithful and passionate prayer life, and washed over my soul with such deep encouragement that God acts when His people pray!
As we inwardly groan over the state of our world today, and are heavy-hearted with how great the need is all around us, may this book stoke the prayer embers of our life into a mighty flame of fervency, and remind us of God’s own words: “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chron. 7:14).”
