PODCAST TRANSCRIPT
In part one of this series, we focused on how to know if you are being attacked by the enemy. This week, we will continue to focus on how to engage in spiritual warfare in a biblical way and explore the more practical side of how to resist the enemy of our souls. Each of the five keys listed below are also explained in further detail.
Five Keys for Resisting the Enemy:
- Identify key points of attack where the enemy is hitting you.
- Find and implement key truths and promises from God’s Word to resist the enemy.
- Examine your heart and life for any areas that are broken down and in need of repair, as these can be access points for Satan to take hold in your life.
- Wield your position and authority in Christ; draw upon the power of Christ’s name.
- Be consistent until breakthrough comes.
It is important to remember to hit the enemy with the truth of God’s Word, a pattern we see Jesus Himself using in Matthew 4 when He was tempted by Satan in the desert. His response to each temptation from Satan was, “It is written…” (read Matthew 4). As you find key truths in God’s Word that define God’s reality and will for your life, it will lead you to walk in the authority that Christ has given you and assist you in pulling down the strongholds that are being built against you.
Don’t forget that it is often when we become serious about serving God or step out in greater obedience to Jesus Christ that brings attention from the enemy camp. Enemy attack can often come through financial hardship, relational struggles, health problems, false accusations, etc.
It is important to take time and see if there are unresolved issues in your past that you need to make right with God or others. If the Lord makes you aware of something that is not in agreement with His Word, don’t delay in going through a process of confessing, repenting, and turning from that sin. These unresolved issues leave a point of access for the enemy of our soul to cause trouble in our lives. Allow God to rebuild the walls of your life that have been broken down; He can and will fortify them with His Word and by His Spirit.
God has given us everything we need to be victorious over the schemes of the enemy. When we walk in the reality of our position in Christ, we can wield the power of Jesus’ name that is above every name and stand in His victory over spiritual strongholds in our life. Don’t feel the need to overcomplicate resisting the enemy. To resist the enemy means to simply say no to Satan’s attacks through the power of Jesus’ name.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Taking territory for Christ may not happen all in one day. You may have to fight individual battles until the war is won. Many of us default to only praying for deliverance only when we’re being bullied by Satan — but God asks us to do more than just pray. Remember that He has given us many weapons to use when engaging in spiritual warfare and resisting the enemy is one of them.
Jesus is Victor, He is Lord, and if He is for us, who can be against us?
